Mara is the heartbeat of our center in Cambodia. As the center’s manager, she plays an essential role in empowering the women we serve, overseeing their sewing projects with expertise, patience, and care. Whether it’s providing training, ensuring top-quality quilts, or offering words of encouragement, Mara brings her kindness and compassion to everything she does.

From expertly working on sewing machines to hand stitching the intricate details, Mara’s dedication shines through in every quilt created at the center. She carefully organizes each project, ensuring a smooth workflow, and communicates with headquarters to keep everyone connected and aligned. Beyond her technical skills, Mara is an unwavering advocate for the women and children, always looking out for their well-being and success.

Mara has been part of Retained Lives since the very beginning, nearly 14 years ago, and was quickly promoted to manager because of her exceptional leadership and commitment. Her gentle, humble spirit has inspired so many over the years, and her compassion for the people she serves is truly unmatched.
